The Hapcheon Dam (Dangjin-si) floating solar power system, a 500kWp installation, appears to be the world's first commercialized floating PV system installed on a hydro-electric dam in July 2012. This project, documented in a 2016 study by MDPI, was located at the Hapcheon Dam in South Korea and marked a significant step in the commercial application of floating solar technology on existing hydropower infrastructure.
